The 101 Wild West Rodeo took place in Ponca City, Oklahoma June 6-8th. This historic rodeo has been a big fan favorite for over 64 years keeping Western Heritage alive and promoting the cowboy way of life through a PRCA rodeo, entertainment and concerts, and events for the whole family. Wacey Schalla, who is having one heck of a good season, took first in the bareback riding with an 81.5 point ride on Andrews Rodeo's Rylee's Rasin Cane, 2nd in the bull riding with an 87.5 point ride, and was awareded all-around cowboy. Jacob Edler took first in the steer wrestling with a 3.9 sec run. In the team roping J.C. Yeahquo/Buddy Hawkins II took first with a fast 4.3 sec run. Cauy Masters had a big 88 point ride on Andrews Rodeo's Cracker Jack for first in the saddle bronc riding. Austin Lawrence took first in the tie-down roping with an 8.1 sec run. Jymmy Cox had a fast 17.18 second run to secure first in the barrel racing. And Cannon Cravens took first in the bull riding with an impressive 89 point ride on Diamond G Rodeo's Taking Chances.
In the steer roping, there was a tie in the first round for first place between Mike Chase and Clay Long who both had 9.7 second runs. Brodie Poppino took first in the second round with a 9.0 second run. First place in the third round went to Chet Herren who had an 9.8 second run. And in the average Brodie Poppino took first for 30.8 seconds on three head.
