The buckin’ bulls dominated at Austin Rodeo on Saturday night with only one cowboy scoring a qualifying ride. Billy Quillan of Fallon, Nevada scored a 76-point ride on Beutler & Son’s bull, Bruce. Taylor Toves (Stephenville, TX) riding Priceline, Maverick Potter (Waxahachie, TX) riding Ring Master, Tyler Kippes (Stephenville, TX) riding RRs Meedy Muley, Canyon Bass (Johnson City, TX) riding the Bull Named Sue, Jacob Carige (Stephenville, TX) riding Tilt A Whirl, and Wacey Schalla (Arapaho, OK) riding Trans Am did not make it to 8 sec.


The bareback bronc riding gave the crowd more action as 3 cowboys had qualifying rides. Cole Franks, a Top 10 rider from Clarendon, TX, topped off the best ride with an 89-point score. Dean Thompson (Altamont, UT),  another Top 10 cowboy, scored an 80, and Payton Lackey (Blanco, TX) scored a 78.5. Wacey Schalla (Arapaho, OK), a rookie bronc rider, had a tough night with a no-score ride. 


In steer wrestling, Levi Rudd (Chelsea, OK) started us off with a no-time ride and Winsten McGraw (Gill, CO) closed out the event with a no-time ride. The crowd did get to see some qualifying runs. Boyd Sawyer (Thedford, NE), #1 Rookie of the Year, showed us a 5.0 second timed run, Ty Bauerle (Jourdanton, TX) had a 6.0 seconds, Dennell Henderson (Huntsville, TX) wrestled his steer in 6.1 seconds, and Jay Williamson (Weatherford, TX) powered through with a 19.4 time.


Team ropers Colton Brittain (Rockwall, TX) and Coy Brittain (Rockwall, TX) stopped the clock at 5.3 sec. McCray Profili (Bedias, TX) and McCoy Profili (Lola, TX) scored a 5.6 sec run. Clay Futrell (Union Grove, NC) and Cory Kidd V (Statesville, NC) scored a 4.6. Will Woodfin (Marshall, TX) and Riley Kittle (Woodland, AL) earned a fast 4.3 sec time. Tyler McKnight (Pollock, TX) and Wyatt Imus (Brenham, TX) timed at 5.0 seconds Jonathan Torres (Ocala, FL) and Lightning Aguilera (Athens, TX) won the round with a fast 4.2 seconds. 


Breakaway roper Bradi Good of Abilene, TX and Madison Outhier of Utopia, TX started us off with a no-time. Following suit, Shaylee Terry of McKinnon, WY and Shayla Hall of Belle Fourche, SD also had no-time runs along with Sammy Taylor of Stephenville, TX and Codie Bowen of Worden, MT. Two cowgirls did managed to qualify - Josey Murphy of Keachi, LA had a 2.4 seconds run and Jill Tanner from Stephenville, TX won the round with a her 2.2 second run.


In saddle bronc riding, the buckin’ horses started off on top with Stran Nielson (Mona, UT), Kai Rockhill (Kamas, UT), Cooper James (Erda, UT), and Statler Ray Wright (Beaver, UT) all finishing out with no scores. Walker Rezzonico (Florence, CO) gave us some action riding Rendevous with a 71 point ride. Isaac Diaz (Desdemona, TX) rode That’s a Wrap with a 74-point score. Brady Hill (Onida, SD) finished in second place riding Holy Water with a 78.  The first place spot went to Shorty Garrett (Eagle Butte, SD) who rode Choctaw Ridge for an 82. 


Our top scorers for the tie-down event were Tom Crouse (Gallatin, MO) and Beau Cooper (Stettler, AB), both with a score of 9.5 seconds. Chance Oftedahl (Pemberton, MN) stopped the clocks at 11.0 seconds, and the final qualifying spot went to Tyler Milligan (Pawhuska, OK) with a 11.1 seconds run. 


Barrel racing gave us a lot of action on Saturday with our top cowgirls being Taylor Carver (Broxton, GA) in first place with a 15.41 seconds run, followed by Leslie Smalygo (Skiatook, OK) with a 15.69 seconds run, Sophie Nolen (Stephenville, TX) with a 15.73 seconds run, and Jordan Driver (Garden City, TX)with a 15.88 seconds run.
