Dawson Creek Spring Exhibition and Stampede Rodeo

Rodeo season is picking up in Canada with rodeos in both BC and Alberta. Dawson Creek kicked things off first April 19-20. Strawbs Jones took first for his 87 point ride on Calgary Stampede’s Xavier Joan and in the saddle bronc Jake Watson went 87.5 points on points on Calgary Stampede’s Freaky Umber to take the lead. In the bulldogging, Pacean Deleeuw had a fast 3.1 seconds run for the win. There was a tie in the team roping with both Brett Buss/Devn Wigemyr and Kody Potts/Travis Speer both having 5.4 sec runs. There was another tie in the tie down roping with Clay McNicol and Shane Smith both taking first with 8.3 sec runs. Kylie Whiteside took first in the barrel racing with an 13.35 sec ride. Unfortunately the bulls decided not to play nice and there were no qualified rides the first day but Tyler Craig was able to make it to the 8 sec mark and won it all with an 85 point ride on Vold Rodeo’s Jungle Spot.
