Livermore Rodeo

The Livermore Rodeo celebrated 107 years of rodeo action this year the weekend of June 14-15th. The Livermore Rodeo has a unique beginning. It was first held in 1918 to raise money for the Red Cross during WWI. It was such a success that in 1919, the Livermore Stockmen's Rodeo Association was formed. Originally there was no PA system so announcing was done via megaphone on horseback. The rodeo was a huge success and grew year after year, adding in a carnival during the week and more events. A lot has changed since its early days as it has grown into a PRCA sanctioned rode, complete with PA system and a proper arena, but it still lives up to its slogan coined in 1935 as the "World's Fastest Rodeo".

Speaking of fast, Drew Madden took first in the steer wrestling with a 4.2 seconds run. Coy Rahlmann/Ross Ashford took first in the team roping with a 5.2 second run. In the tie-down roping Lucas Potter had a quick 7.8 seconds run for first. And in the barrel racing Kathy Petska took first with her 17.56 second run. All-around cowboy went to Daniel Williams.

In the roughstock events, Jacob Lees took first in the bareback riding with an 87.5 points on Bridwell Pro Rodeos' Buster. Dawson Hay took first in the saddle bronc riding 86.5 points on Bridwell Pro Rodeos' Indian Burn. And in the bull riding Jordan Spears took first with a big 89 point ride on Big Stone Rodeo Inc's Dirty Dave.
