Claudio Montanha Jr. took second, earning an additional 18 Unleash The Beast points with his ride on Rorschach (Universal Pro Rodeo/Rachel & Dustin) for 89 points. Dalton Kasel took third with an 88-point ride on Blackstone (Clay Struve/Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger) and earned 17 Unleash The Beast points. Richards took fifth with an 88 point ride on Chuck. Rounding out the top five was Cort McFadden who had an 87.25 point ride on Mouse Trap (Nothin’ But Try Ranch/Diggers Bucking Bulls).
In the Monster Energy Team Challenge, presented by Camping World, The Nashville Stampede beat out the Carolina Cowboys by a score of 251-0.00, to win the Smoky Mountain Showdown thanks to qualifying rides by Austin Richardson, Anderson de Oliveira and Alan de Souza. Richardson's score also earned him a spot in the Championship Saturday, 16 Unleash The Beast points, and moved up from from No. 17 to No. 15.
Joao Ricardo Vieira made history with his 1,000th career out on Sin City (LH Cattle Co./2T Cattle Co.) for an 86 point ride. This PBR veteran is now ranked 5th in the PBR for all-time outs.
Saturday was another night of Aussie domination by Brady Fielder, who is attempting to become the 2nd Australian World Champion in PBR history. The first was 1997 PBR World Champion Troy Dunn. Fielder had strong weekend in The Windy City with a perfect 3-for-3 to win the PBR Unleash The Beast, catapulting him from No. 19 to No. 3 in the standing. He started the event off with a huge 89.25 point ride in Round 1 on DirtyBru (Universal Pro Rodeo/Rachel & Dustin Powell/Delmas/Williams). He followed this up with another big 89 point ride on Bucking Bill (Lucas Manning Bucking Bulls), followed by an even bigger 89.75 point ride on Tulsa Time (Kelly & Cami Heath) in the Championship Round, earning him a check for $52,390, 153 Unleash The Beast points, and a massive jump from No. 19 to No. 3 in the world standings.
Anderson de Oliveira took the second place thanks to his solid 86.25 point ride in Round 1 on Peanut (LH Cattle/Buentello Bucking Bulls) and an phenomenal 89.5 point ride in Round 2 on Fringe Minority (Sterk Bucking Bulls). He kept the winning streak going in the Championship Round with an 87.25 point ride on Buffalo Heifer (Sterk Bucking Bulls) to earn him 104 Unleash The Beast points, and a big jump in the standings from No. 24 to No. 8 in the world,.
Third place went to Cort McFadden who also went 3-for-3. McFadden started the event off with an 87.25 point ride in Round 1 on Mouse Trap (Nothin’ But Try Ranch/Diggers Bucking Bulls), followed by an 86.25 point ride on Rafter P Construction’s Smooth Over It (McCoy Rodeo/Rockin’ Rafter P Ranches)in Round 2, and huge 89 point ride on Doze You Down (Premier Livestock/Rafter KL) in the Championship Round, earning him 81 Unleash The Beast points and moving him from No. 11 to No. 6 in the standings.
John Crimber finished fourth. He had an 86.5 point ride on Gunsmoke (Lucas Manning Bucking Bulls) in Round 1, was victorious over Bugatti (Phenom Genetics/Dragonetics/Sankey/Wallace) for a big 89 point ride in Round 2, and was awarded 85.5 points for his ride on Blue Duck (Grin/Jacobson/Davis Rodeo Ranch/McCoy Rodeo) in the Championship Round. Crimber earned 64 Unleash The Beast points to remain at the No 1 spot in the standings.
Fifth place went to Alan de Souza. In Round 1, he had a 77.25 point ride on Black Pearl (Sterk Bucking Bulls). He was offered a re-ride by declined. In Round 2, he had an 89 point ride on Rank Frank (Rafter G Rodeo) followed by an 88 point ride on Hunting Trip (Universal Pro Rodeo/Rachel & Dustin Powell/Delmas/Williams) Championship Round, earning him 51 Unleash The Beast points and moving from No. 40 to No. 33 in the standings.
Back in the bull pen, Ridin’ Salty (Drink LMNT/McCoy Rodeo) was awarded the YETI “Built For The Wild” Bull of the Event for his unmatched 46-point score in the Championship Round for unseating Leonardo Castro in 2.49 seconds.
