Things were looking bleak for Cassio Dias. After a promising start going 2-2 in the opening rounds of the Finals, Dias was thrown and stomped on in Round 3, sending him to the hospital due to multiple injuries and he was held for observation. It was uncertain if he would be able to continue on in what had been a record breaking rookie season. In a story ripped from the pages of a movie, Dias was able to obtaining the necessary medical clearance and return to the competition where he was crowned 2024 PBR World Champion and Rookie of the Year. And in true legendary fashion, he did so in the chaps of the late Lane Frost. Hollywood could not have scripted a more perfect ending to Dias' 2024 season.
But let's not overlook the phenom teenage sensation John Crimber who had a sizzling white hot season as well. In Rounds 3 and 4 of Eliminations, Crimber tied for the high-marked ride and earned 73 more Unleash The Beast points than Dias did, putting him within 487.5 points of the top spot in his pursuit to be the youngest PBR World Champion in history. In Round 1 of the Championship, Crimber took 4th with an 88 point ride on Skippy of Skippy & Linda Johnson/Hookin’ W Ranch. In Round Two, he was bucked off Fierce’s Dirtnap of Blake Sharp/UB Bucking Co./Fierce Firearms. In Round 3, Crimber needed a big ride and he got it on Big Bank of Universal Pro Rodeo/Rachel & Dustin Powell/Delmas/Williams with a 95 point ride that brought the crowd to their feet. The ride is tied for the 10th-highest ever score and highest-marked ride by a teenager at the PBR World Finals.
It all came down to Round 4. Crimber picked Hang ‘em High of Bryan T/ Smith/Doss Cattle) and Dias chose Chiseled of Flinn/D&H Cattle Co. Crimber went first but was was bucked off in just 2.83 seconds. Dias made it to the buzzer with a 79.5 point ride on Chiseled, finishing the 2024 PBR World Finals: Unleash The Beast seventh overall and earning 130 Unleash The Beast points, earning him both the World Championship and Rookie of the Year. Dias also won the Mason Lowe Award, awarded each year to the bull rider who records the highest-scored ride during the PBR Unleash The Beast regular season. Crimber earned the Lane Frost/Brent Thurman Award for the top-marked ride of the 2024 PBR World Finals: Unleash The Beast for his Round 3 win with his career-best 95-point ride on Hang ‘em High.
And don't call it a comback, he ain't going anywhere seven-time PRCA champion Sage Steele Kimzey, won the 2024 PBR World Finals. In Round One, Kimzey had an impressive 89 point ride on Jersey Tuff of McClellan/Lidgard/Hart. In Round 2, Army Slasher of Bernard Tallman/Farris bucked him of in 1.2 seconds. Kimzey came back strong with a 91 point ride in Round 3 on Preachers Kid of K-C Bucking Bulls/RD Cattle. In Round 4 he nailed his spot at the title with a 89.5 point ride on Let’s Roll of Stoltzfus/Bob & Jerry Adams/BS Cattle Co. which earned Kimzey $411,200 and 537 Unleash The Beast points. He finished his season ranked No. 7 in the Unleash The Beast Standings.
Moving onto PBR's 4 legged athletes, the 2024 YETI PBR World Champion Bull went to Man Hater of Jane Clark/Gene Owen, earning the accompanying a $100,000 bonus. Man Hater had the highest average bull score out of eight highest-scored outs logged during the 2023 PBR Camping World Team Series and 2024 Unleash The Beast regular-season, and two outs at the 2024 PBR World Finals. He clinched his first-ever World Championship with his 47.25-point in Round 3 of the Championship after bucking off Eduardo Aparecido in 2.53 seconds.
Red Demon was named the YETI “Built for the Wild” Bull of the Finals and earned a $25,000 bonus as the bull who posted the top combined score across his three outs logged during the 2024 PBR World Finals. He first bucked off Crimber in 5.07 seconds during Round 2 of Eliminations earning him 45.5 points. He lived up to his name a second time at the Cowtown Coliseum when he bucked off Dawson Branton in 1.96-second in Round 4 of Eliminations and earned 45 points. But he wasn't done yet. In Round 3, Red Demon posted the high-marked bull score of the World Finals when he recieved 48.5 points for unseating Dalton Kasel in 1.54-second. The three buck offs set Red Demon up to finish the World Finals with an unrivaled 46.33-point average.
Cool Whip of Julian/Staci Addison/D&H/Crooked W made history by breaking three-time World Champion Bull Bushwacker’s of Julion Moreno Bucking Bulls record of 42-out buckoff streak from 2013, with his 43rd consecutive buckoff in Round 3 of the Championship when he sent Claudio Montanha Jr. flying off in 1.18 seconds.
Blake Sharp was crowned the 2024 PBR Stock Contractor of the Year for the second year in a row.
