The 76th annual Redding Rodeo kicked off May 15-18. This rodeo has a rich history in Northern California featuring several events including Heritage Day, where kids learn what it is like to be a rodeo athlete and rancher, and a Special Kids day to celebrate otherly-abled kids in the community. Redding Rodeo also has a prestigious Rodeo Queen program. This rodeo always draws some of the top rodeo athletes and should be on most rodeo fan's West Coast bucket list. Jayco Roper took first in the bareback riding with a big 87 point ride on Bridwell Pro Rodeos' No Tail Dell. In the saddle bronc riding, Zeke Thurston took first with his 87.5 points on Bridwell Pro Rodeos' Momma's Boy. Miley Bravos took first in the barrel racing with a fast 17.37 second run. In the bull riding, it was a tie between Tristen Hutchings on Bridwell Pro Rodeos' Sea Smoke, and Chance Schott on Bridwell Pro Rodeos' Louisiana Lightning, who both had solid 86.5 point rides. All-around cowboy went to Brushton Minton who entered the tie-down roping and team roping.
In the first round of steer wrestling, Eric Logan took first with a 4.5 second run. In the second round, it was a tie between Kaden Greenfield and Levi Rudd who both had 4.3 second runs. First in the average went to Eric Logan for 10.3 seconds on two head.
In the first round of the team roping, Hagen Peterson/Chase Tryan took first with a 4.9 second run. First in the second round went to Daniel Green/Elijah Green for their 5.0 second run. First in the average went to Jaxson Tucker/Jason Johe for their 11.2 seconds. on two head.
In the tie-down roping, Britt Bedke took first in the first round with a 8.9 second run. Trevor Hale took first in the second round with a 7.7 second run. First in the average went to Dan Williams Jr. for 18.1 seconds on two head,
