The cowgirls showed up and showed out this past week in at The Cowtown Coliseum for chance to become the next World Champion. The event consists of two tiers- a challenger and a pro tier. Tiers are based on athletes earnings in GBR and BAW and were reviewed back in Jan to determined which class they fell into. It is divided up into two rounds of qualifying rounds, a Semi-Finals Round, a Showdown Round, and a Championship Round with a payout of $750,000 with each event World Champion earning $60,000 and the All-Around Champion earning a $20,000 cash bonus. WRWR will also pay a $5,000 bonus per event per leaderboard along with a stunning Jessie Jaymes Silversmith world champion buckle. The first two qualifying rounds, the semi-final round, and the showdown round were all at The Cowtown Coliseum where the top challenger and pros in barrel racing, breakway roping, and barrel racing competed for a spot at the Championship Round at AT&T Stadium.
Qualifying Round One
In the barrel racing, Kathleen Maynard took first in the Challenger with a 13.446 run to earn a $2,500 check. Dee Dee Jordan took second with a 13.49 run for a $1,000. Jorden Koonsman took third with a 13.543 run to earn $500. In the Pros, Kylee Scribner has a lightening fast 13.163 run for first. Kelly Allen took second with a 13.391 run. Madison Mccaffity took third with her 13.419 run.
In the team roping, Kelsey Pugmire and Ashtyn Pratz took first in the Challengers with an 8.51 to earn the $2,500. Second went to Madison Webb and Kennlee Tate with an 8.52 run to earn a $1,000. Third went to Deanna Vest and Heather Jacobson with a 9.03 run. In the Pros, Whiney Desalvo and Kelsie Domer took first with a 6.1. Makayla Boisjoli and Sarah Angelone took second with a 7.05 run. Kenna Francis and Whitney Desalvo took third with a 7.14 run.
In the breakaway roping, Madison Stanley took first in the Challengers with a 2.44 and walked away with the $2,500. Shayla Smith took second with her 2.5 run and took home the $1,000. Third and $500 went to Wylie Jo Hodges for her 2.57 run. In the Pros, JJ Hampton took first for her 2.19 run. Second went to Taylor Munsel for her 2.25 run. Third was a tie with both Jackie Crawford and Brandi McDowell stopping the clock at 2.27,
Qualifying Round Two
In round two of the barrel racing, Makenzie Mayes took first in the Challengers with her 13.286 run for $2,5000. Hazlee McKenzie took second with a 13.564 run for $1,000. Third and $500 went to Jordyn Koonsman. In the Pros, Jennifer Driver took first with her 13.284 run. Emma Charleston took second with a 13.289 run. Madison Mccaffity took third with a 13.295 run.
In the team roping, Megan Meredith and Kendal Pierson took first in the Challengers with a 6.64 run to get the $2,500. Shayna Forbes and Tamara Mann took second and $1,000 with a 7.55 run. Third went to Ashtyn Pratz and Makayla Osborne for a 8.31 run. In the Pros, Whitney Desalvo and Kelsie Domer took first with a fast 5.98n run. Kayelen Helton and Lorraie Moreno tied with Katelyn Perkins and Shanna Perkins with both teams having 6.88 runs to each earn $750.
In the breakaway roping, Karrigan Cagley took first and the $2,5000 check in the Challengers with a 2.12 run. Kieley Walz took second and $1,000 for her 2.27 run. Kashlee Schumacher took third with her 2.31 run. In the Pros, Cheyanne Mccartney had a don't-blink-or-you'll-miss-it 1.86 run to earn first. Taylor Munsell came in second with a 2.15 run. Third went to Martha Angelone for her 2.17 run.
Semi-Finals Round
In the barrel racing, the barrel racers that advanced to Championship Round are Fallon Forbes (seeded), Makenzie Mays, Tibba Smith, Hazlee McKenzie, Brandie Inman, Mary Brooks, Ryann Pedone (seeded), Kindyl Scruggs, Madison Mccaffity, Emma Charleston, Bella Skinner, and Julie Plourde. Mackenzie Mayes was awareded Challenger Barrel Racing Semi-Finals World Champion and Ryann Pedone was crowed for the Pro tier.
The team roping pairs that advanced to the Showndown Round are: Sydney Ball & Sally Ball (seeded), Kendal Pierson & Shelby Scott, Kelsey Pugmire & Ashtyn Pratz, Brittney Steed & Danielle Roper, Tamara Lewis & Cindy Jackson, Maryann Miller & Katelyn Perkins, Megan Gunter & Jimmi Jo Montera (seeded), Jackie Crawford & Annette Stahl, Makayla Boisjoli & Sarah Angelone, Kayele Helton & Lorraine Moreno, Beverly Robbins & Jessy Remsburg, and Kenna Francis & Whitney Desalvo. Kendal Pierson and Shelby Scott were awareded Semi-Finals World Champion for Challengers and Jackie Crawford and Annette Stahl were crowed it for the Pro tier.
The breakaway ropers that advanced to the Showdown Round are: Kylie Reininger (seeded), Colee Cox, Kieley Walz, Shayla Smith, Sadie Grant, Rylee Payne, Martha Angelone (seeded), Sarah Angelone, Taylor Munsell, Amy Ohrt, Jordan Jo Hollabaugh, Lari Dee Guy. Colee Cox was awareded the Semi-Finals Champion for the Challengers and Martha Angelone was crowned for the Pros.
Martha Angelone was awarded All-Around World Champion. Makenzie Mayes was crowned the Challenger Barrel Racing World Champion. Ryann Pedone was crowned Pro Team Barrel Racing World Champion. Kelsey Pugmire was crowned Challenger Team Roping Header World Champion. Kayelen Helton was crowned Pro Team Roping Header World Champion. Ashtyn Pratz was crowned Challenger Team Roping World Champion. Jimmi Jo Montera was crowned Pro Team Roping Heeler World Champion. Kieley Walz was crowned Challenger Team Breakaway Roping World Champion. Martha Angelone also was crowned Pro Team Breakaway Roper World Champion.
The Showdown Round
There was no barrel racing in the showdown round so we jumped straight into the team roping with the women competing for a coveted spot at the Championship Round at AT&T. The team roping pairs headed to the Championship Round are: Beverly Robbins & Jessy Remsburg, Megan Gunter & Jimmi Jo Montera, and Kenna Francis and Whitney Desalvo. The top three breakway ropers that advanced to the Championship Round are Amy Ohrt, Martha Angelone, and Jordan Jo Hollabaugh.
Championship Round
The top female rodeo athletes came ready to compete at AT&T. Makenzie Mayes was awarded the fasted time in the barrel racing for a show stopping 12.946 second run which was also a new Cowtown Coliseum record! Whitney DeSalvo and Kelsie Domer were also awarded fasted time for their 5.98 sec run. And Cheyanne McCartney won fastest time for her quick on the draw 1.86 breakway roping run. Makenzie Mays was also awarded Women's Rodeo World Champion honorary Texas Rattler's Cowgirl. Kindyl Scruggs took home the W24 Women's Rodeo World Champion in the barrel racing for her 15.384 sec run. Kenna Francis and Whitney DeSalvo took home the W24 Women's Rodeo World Champion in the team roping for their 6.62 run. And 18 year old cowgirl Amy Ohrt was awarded W24 Women's Rodeo World Champion in the breakaway. All WRWC winners took home $60,000.
